An new standard for Congenital Heart Disease education and training

Every CHD consultation in a hospital currently depends on how well one clinician can explain a complex three-dimensional problem to a frightened family – often with a pen and a scrap of paper. The quality of that explanation varies by person, by day, and by how much time is left in the consult. Heartrium removes that variability.

[  One standard, every time  ]

The kit gives every clinician – cardiologist, surgeon, nurse, sonographer, trainee – the same anatomically precise models and the same visualisations. Families hear one consistent story from the first echo to the operating theatre. The explanation is no longer a personal skill; it is an institutional capability.

[ Improved explanations ]

Families are provided with resources at home, at their own pace, arriving with sharper questions and needing less basic re-explanation.

[  Improved consent  ]

Informed consent is an institutional obligation, not just a signature. Heartrium gives you a documented, repeatable, anatomically accurate explanation that families can revisit – a stronger consent record and the highest standard of communication.

[  Complete educational toolkit ]

The physical kit of CHD hearts is complemented by online digital visualisations for your health team and educational videos for parents. The expert webinar series support your health team's learning.

[  Workforce and training built in  ]

The physical models stay with the department permanently. Trainees, junior doctors, and nursing staff learn on the same models used with families, and have access to interactive visualisations online. It is an education asset, not just a communication aid.

[ Backed by evidence and leading centres  ]

Models have been evaluated since mid-2024 with our partner Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne – together with Early Partners we built more evidence.

Our education toolkit includes physical and online models,

as well as webinars and guided video tutorials

[  Physical Models  ]

Life-sized, three-dimensional hearts you can pick up, turn over and look inside – built from real clinical imaging and validated by cardiologists. Three kits are available, from the most common conditions through to the full set, each in a protective case that travels between clinic, bedside and lecture theatre.

Our physical models look and feel close to a real heart and are at the centre of our educational toolkit

[  Interactive, Digital Learning  ]

Explore each heart condition on any screen, at your own pace. Look inside the heart, hide the muscle wall, follow the blood flow, and see what surgery changes – with plain-language explanations at every step, and a normal heart alongside for comparison. Developed for training health teams and education; clinicians use it in the room, including during consent conversations.

[  Video Tutorials  ]

Short videos explaining one heart condition and its repair, taught through the physical models and interactive visualisations. Families watch at home, in their own time, pausing and rewatching as often as they need. Clinicians use the same videos to prepare a family before a consultation, to reinforce it afterwards, and to bring trainees and new staff up to speed – everyone working from one accurate, consistent explanation.
